Introducing The Play Studio

We’re so excited to introduce The Play Studio—a brand new indoor play space and early childhood development center designed for connection, creativity, and growth.

This space is a years-long goal achieved for the Short Family, built by local toddler mom and behavior analyst Margaret Short, M.S., BCBA. With years of experience supporting families through behavior analysis and parent coaching, Margaret’s vision is to create a playful, supportive space where both kids and parents can feel connected, inspired, and encouraged to grow together.

Whether you’re here to play, learn, or feel inspired—The Play Studio was made for you. We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome our community inside!

What to Expect

At The Play Studio, children build confidence while strengthening the skills that matter—taking turns, following directions, engaging with peers, and preparing for success in a classroom setting. Parents gain a community of support, connection, and inspiration. There will be many opportunities for these skills to be developed, through activities like:

Open Play

for Littles

Activities that support fine motor, gross motor, play, and classroom readiness skills

Developmental support & behavior therapy

Opportunities for parents and children to connect, learn, and grow together

Social skills building through collaborative play

A welcoming, boutique-style environment

Q: Where are you located?
A: We will be located at The Shops of 393 in Santa Rosa Beach. Currently planning to open February 2026!

Q: Do I need to book in advance?
A: To make check-in a breeze and ensure your child gets the most out of their play session, we kindly ask that all play sessions be booked online in advance. Walk-ins are not guaranteed and may experience delays — booking ahead means more time for fun and less time at the front desk!

A: At The Play Studio, every corner is designed to spark imagination, encourage movement, and help kids develop important skills—while having a blast!

  • Pretend Play

    • From our mini market to our play kitchen and dress-up area, children can explore their creativity through make-believe adventures. Pretend play helps little ones build social skills, practice problem-solving, and bring their imaginations to life.

  • Playground Play

    • Climb, slide, and explore! Our indoor playground features safe, age-appropriate structures where kids can burn off energy, develop coordination, and build confidence as they move.

  • Soft Play Zone

    • Perfect for our youngest guests, this cushioned play area offers gentle ramps, sensory shapes, and age-appropriate activities—ideal for crawling, cruising, and first steps in a safe space.

  • Gross Motor Fun

    • Balance beams, ride-on toys, and obstacle courses challenge growing bodies, strengthen muscles, and boost coordination skills while keeping play exciting and active.

  • Sensory Play

    • We rotate engaging sensory bins, tactile activities, and quiet nooks to help children explore textures, colors, and sounds at their own pace.

  • Open-Ended Exploration

    • Loose parts play, building blocks, trains/cars, and art stations encourage kids to create, experiment, and discover—no instructions required!
